Last Wednesday, I (Greg Fay) headed to Dome Mountain Ranch in the Paradise Valley of Montana to shoot some fresh autumn video footage. While fly fishing the Montana ranch’s 25-acre Thelma’s Lake, Greg hooked a monster brown. After a ten-minute fight complete with several dramatic jumps, the behemoth was brought in. It was 28” long with a 16” girth which computes to 12 lbs. “I think it’s the biggest brown I’ve ever landed. What a hog!” After some gentle handling, the amazing brown swam away vigorously, ready to dance with a fly line on another day.
James, Chuck, Chip, Ryan, B and Mike Fraley and I all attended the Fay Ranches fishing retreat last week, and wow, what a great time. Friday was a beautiful day and fishing was pretty good. Friday night at Joe's bar in Craig was hilarious. We all agreed it was one of the most entertaining nights any of us have had in a while. B and Chuck held the pool table for about 4 hours. For not going to bars much, B sure looked comfortable.
Saturday was another beautiful day and the fishing was excellent. Chip takes the honors with the biggest fish, a 23" brown that looked like it had just eaten a muskrat. Saturday night was a bit more subdued but still a great time. It was a great trip, and we definitely need to do it every year.
Fay Ranches is very excited to present our newest Wyoming ranch for sale, Bird Cloud Ranch. This beautiful Wyoming ranch holds approximately one mile on both sides of the famed North Platte River, just a couple miles out of the western town of Saratoga, Wyoming. A couple weeks ago, we had a few hours to fish this stretch of the river and we were pleased with the number of fish held in the seams of the river. Varying sizes of Browns and Rainbow trout were caught and we are looking forward to the fall fly fishing. Recently a couple trophy mule deer were taken on the Wyoming property adding to the recreational features of the Bird Cloud Ranch.
