The Tax Foundation recently listed Wyoming and Montana as two of the best states in the nation for business. The State Business Tax Climate Index, which aggregates tax information for each state, has determined that Wyoming, at #1, and Montana, at #8, have two of the most favorable tax climates for businesses. The Index measures each state's tax code against the others', and determines whether the tax policies in a state are conducive or harmful to a healthy, competitive business environment.

During a business lunch panel at The Wort Hotel, an interesting discussion took place relative to the strength and recovery of the Jackson Hole, Wyoming real estate market and the prediction that wealth will continue to flock to Wyoming due to its tax friendly climate.

As cattle prices reach uncharted highs, the demand for Wyoming cattle ranches has increased dramatically over the past 6-12 months. Analysts are suggesting that cattle prices may climb 5-8% higher throughout 2012. I have spent a lot of time showing property to some much respected cattlemen and cattlewomen from all over the U.S. the past six months and they all are telling me the same thing across the board, these buyers feel that we will see a strong run in the cattle market for the next 3-5 years before the market peaks and starts its downward trend.
