DALLAS, Tex. – The Land Report has declared a new king of the hill atop its annual list of America’s largest landowners – media magnate John Malone. Malone’s rise highlights the magazine’s fall issue, which features the 2011 Land Report 100, Presented by Fay Ranches.
Ted Turner, another land-loving media mogul, was ousted from the top spot when Malone purchased more than 1 million acres of timberland in Maine and New Hampshire earlier this year. This acquisition pushed the chairman of Liberty Media into the top spot with holdings totaling 2.2 million acres. Turner has a firm grip on the No. 2 ranking with ownership of more than 2 million acres, according to the 2011 Land Report 100, Presented by Fay Ranches.
As we welcome the dog days of summer, Fay Ranches brokers Mike Jorgenson and James Esperti, and owner Greg Fay welcomed some friends and clients in Jackson Hole, WY last week to the beautiful new deck at the Rendezvous Bistro for the first annual "Fay Ranches Soiree" in Jackson.
We really value these intimate gatherings, which are held around the country throughout the year as a chance to catch up, share a cocktail and great food, and spend some time talking about the various adventures people have embarked on recently.

Our recent listing of the Mungas Ranch near Philipsburg, MT that directly borders our Pintler Trout Creek Ranch creates a unique opportunity to own one of the largest productive ranches in Western Montana. If you know Philipsburg, upper Rock Creek and the Skalkaho Pass area at all, you know how absolutely beautiful these ranches are. I have lived in Montana for more than 30 years, covered the entire state in roles as an ag rep, fly fishing outfitter and ranch broker and I still say this is my favorite spot in the whole state.
This year at the Fay Ranches Roundup once again managed to bag itself another sunny day. As friends, clients and vendors gathered for the annual outdoor event, the soft clouds gently rolled across the southwest Montana home, making the temperature and atmosphere absolutely perfect. The creek flowing through the property was as smooth as the beverages, while the kids played nearby in the bounce house or swam in the pool. It was great to catch up with old friends, and meet some new ones outside. The food was amazing, capped off with a roasted pig that certainly made the meal.
Thanks to all of our vendors, clients, friends and family who made this day great! We look forward to seeing you soon.

Lander’s Fork Ranch is a wonderful 200± acre fly fishing property in the heart of a quintessential Montana landscape.
The primary fishery associated with Lander’s Fork Ranch is the approximately one full mile of the Lander’s Fork of the Blackfoot River, winding perfectly through the middle of the Montana ranch. Lander’s Fork is a well kept local secret and a classic Montana stream laced with runs, riffles, and seams leading the fisherman from one hole to the next. This particular stretch is private and loaded with nice sized, isolated, and gullible native cutthroats.
