Oregon Fly Fishing

Oregon is often overlooked when it comes to fly fishing, but this diverse state has a wealth of fly fishing streams and lakes. Some even say that Oregon has the best year-round fly fishing in the United States.

The Deschutes River and it’s tributaries are well known both for its incredible angling for native redside rainbow trout and for its run of reel-smoking summer steelhead. Fly fishing author John Shewey calls it “the single best freshwater fishery in the West.”

The Crooked River is a great river for new angler. It contains a great wading environment to learn the basics. The river is open year around for fishing, with the best fly fishing a stretch between Bowman Dam (Prineville Reservoir) to Mile Marker 8 towards Prineville. The redsides aren’t particularly big here, but they are incredibly plentiful and reasonably easy to catch.

Fay Ranches has the privilege to offer some of the best fly fishing properties in Oregon.
