Oscar is a highly respected farm and ranch broker in Idaho, specializing in production farms, ranches, recreational properties, and 1031 exchanges. He joined Fay because of the people, the culture of excellence, and their mutual dedication to the land and Western heritage. His honesty, integrity, hard work, and knowledge of land and natural resources have guided him through multiple farm and ranch transactions with many satisfied and repeat clients.

Growing up on his family’s diverse farm and ranch, he spent most of his time in the fields working with cattle and improving the farm land alongside his dad. He learned the importance of land and stewardship for both the health of the land and the sustainability of the operation. His family’s once-struggling cattle operation is now a thriving farm and still in his family because of the stewardship of 3 generations. He enjoys visiting farm and ranch operations and learning about the various and most modern practices and techniques from the people who make their living on the land.

After graduating from college, Oscar moved back to the family farm but was still drawn to military service and the lore of flight. With the full support of his family, he joined the US Navy, where he served 14 years flying F/A 18 Hornets on multiple carrier deployments and various assignments, including graduating from the Navy Fighter Weapons School ‘Top Gun’ Adversary Course. He served another 7 years in the Air National Guard, flying F-15 Eagles, and retired as a Lt Col with over 3,000 flight hours and almost 400 carrier landings in multiple domestic and international operations.

After retirement, Oscar and his wife, Clara-Leigh, bought a small farm outside of Homedale, Idaho, where they raised their 3 children and started a purebred Red Angus and Hereford operation. During the first few years, he was a business consultant, a public speaker, and a custom harvest owner/operator. They dedicated themselves to the community, their church, and agriculture policy and organizations, such as Deer Flat Church, Idaho FFA, and Chamber of Commerce, among others.

His love of the land and appreciation for farming and ranching drew him into land brokerage, where he enjoys connecting investors, stewards, buyers, and sellers. Oscar set himself apart early in his real estate career by achieving his Accredited Land Consultant designation. When he is not assisting clients with real estate, he might be at a branding event, a bull sale, or an ag conference, learning about the latest news and trends in the industry. He enjoys hunting, shooting skeet, skiing, golf, and the outdoors. He likes hearing and telling a good story or two as well as meeting people to discuss their ideas, challenges, and victories.
