Farmhouse With a Modern Twist | Paradise Valley | North Fork Builders
Preferred Partner, Land Investor Volume 5
The homeowners came to their architect with a request for “a farmhouse with a modern twist. Clean and uncluttered, but cozy” . They had recently purchased a ranch on the Yellowstone River and we’re looking for the right team to bring life back to the working cattle ranch. Surrounded by the Crazy, Absaroka and Gallatin mountain ranges, the gorgeous backdrop was “love at first sight,” the homeowner recalls.
Several original buildings were renovated or repurposed, and local pieces of chicken coops, gardens, and osprey nests were incorporated in the restoration of this historic piece of the Paradise Valley. The owner, being an avid fisherman, wanted to have a place for his grandchildren to fish, so six ponds were rehabilitated and joined with over 2,000 feet of streams. Three of the ponds are used for bird habitat and the other three, named for the homeowner’s grandchildren, are used for recreation.
Once the main house was underway, our talented North Fork artisans gladly stepped up to the challenge put forth by the owners at the outset of the project. Every detail was a collaborative effort to incorporate hand-crafted and locally sourced materials. Newel posts adorning the stairways were hand-carved into foxes, and hand-carved cranes perch above the great room on the 2nd story walkway. The bar top was made from an ancient log harvested from the moss bogs of New Zealand, and the wine room brick was sourced from an old railroad depot.
No detail was spared in the intentional design of this home, with the main house specifically situated for the best views of the Absaroka mountains. A wall of sliding glass doors opens fully to the patio,
providing an inviting place to gather, recreate and relax in the most beautiful place on earth. Livability and comfort were the owner’s top priority, which the North Fork team accomplished without sacrificing the craftsmanship evident in every detail.
We are proud to have been on this journey with the owners to create a legacy they can enjoy for generations to come.
