A note from Cole Reiner
Growing up on our family ranch just outside Buffalo, Wyoming, I’ve always been involved in the western way of life and the rodeo world. I started riding horses and roping with my family at a young age, as I got more involved in high school rodeo, I became increasingly interested in the rough stock events and the countless cowboys from Johnson County that had qualified for the national finals rodeo in the bareback and Bronc riding. Getting my start in the bareback riding at the Kaycee night rodeo I began to move on to high school and eventually college rodeo where I got the opportunity to rodeo at both, Sheridan and Casper college pursuing a degree in business.
After two qualifications for the College National Finals Rodeo, I bought my PRCA rookie card in the fall of 2019 and moved to Weatherford, TX, with the Steiner family to fulfill my goal of making the NFR. A goal that every young cowboy has growing up but few ever get to accomplish. I can now say that making the move to Texas was more than worth it; I’ve qualified for my first NFR, won the Resistol “Rookie of the year” award, and claimed my first mountain states circuit finals win. I will be heading into Arlington, TX to represent the state of Wyoming in the number 12 position, and couldn’t be more excited to see what the future holds. I would like to thank all the support from back home in Wyoming and Montana as well as Texas, and also my great sponsors including Fay Ranches, I couldn’t do it without them!
Watch Cole win his first-ever Go-ROund at the WNFR here!
“Winning Rookie of the Year is a pretty big deal, it was my original goal this year,” said Reiner, 22. “The amount of rookies of the year who make the NFR is pretty high. That is a cool accomplishment and a big confidence booster going into this first NFR.”
Cheryl Summer is a Wyoming ranch property broker for Fay Ranches. Having spent her youth on the family dairy farm in the middle of Michigan’s “mitten,” the concept and practice of stewardship were deeply instilled within her. She learned principles she brings to her profession today: You don’t quit and go to the house until all the chores are done until every living thing that depends on you is well cared for, and until everything you are responsible for has been checked off. Rather than being a burden, the early mornings and late nights tending livestock, and planting and harvesting forged a strong bond with family and with the land.
