At the 2023 South Dakota Junior High School Rodeo in Rapid City, young rodeo athletes gathered to showcase their skills, with LuKayzee Brink standing out for her exceptional performance in the Goat Tying Championship. LuKayzee’s involvement in rodeo spans various disciplines, including breakaway roping, barrel racing, and pole bending. Her dedication is evident in her two-time qualification for the National Junior High Finals Rodeo and her significant achievements at the National Little Britches Rodeo Association finals. Her title as the 2023 SDJHRA State Champion in Goat Tying and her recognition as the Reserve All Around Cowgirl are testaments to her skill and commitment.
LuKayzee’s journey has been enriched by her bond with her horses. Initially competing on her sister’s horse, Ace, she developed a deep connection with the sport. Now, she continues her journey with Duce, a breakaway horse she trains for goat tying. This transition highlights the importance of her relationship with her horses, which is essential in rodeo for both performance and companionship.
