Uniting Innovation and Imagination With Time-Honored Craftsmanship | Yellowstone Traditions
Preferred Partner, Land Investor Volume 5
Uniting innovation and imagination with time-honored craftsmanship, we create, construct, and restore one-of-a-kind structures with minimal impact to the natural landscapes they inhabit.
Yellowstone Traditions is a full-service general contractor who specializes in custom homes, rustic cabins, light commercial, western ranches restoration of historical structures, and one-of-a-kind furnishings from the YT Custom Shop. Uniting time-honored building methods with intelligent innovation, we contribute to the western landscape with structures that possess integrity, authenticity, and a strong relationship to the land.
With centuries of combined experience and a rich Montana heritage, we are hands-on professionals who work collaboratively with our clients and their architects through every step of the construction process. Tradition, innovation, beauty, and skill infuse every structure we build, and our work exemplifies these qualities in a variety of landscapes across the west.
Since 1986, our Montana-based team has applied their expertise and artistry to over 600 original projects throughout the U.S., promoting the quality building and valued relationships. YT self performs the carpentry scopes of the project including framing, timber work, interior, and exterior finishes, and installation of custom doors and cabinetry provided by the YT custom furnishing shop.
The YT partners, Ron Adams, Justin Bowland, & Tim Blazina, are involved in guiding the future of the company as well as participating in the day to day of all projects. To turn dreams into reality, each project is staffed with a Principal in Charge, Project Manager, Superintendent, and necessary supporting crews. Our team’s experience and expertise elevate every stage of the construction process.
Having done business in this region for 34 years, we have developed long term relationships with professionals, subcontractors, and suppliers. These relationships provide an advantage of familiarity and trust, ensuring an enjoyable building experience. From the initial introduction to project completion, our projects are delivered with the highest level of quality, honesty, and process transparency.

This fully custom mountain residence is tucked in a very private location in the shadow of the Tetons. From the beginning of the project, the owners were very thoughtful in their need for a highly functional family retreat and they assembled a great team to deliver the project. Peter Zimmerman Architects, Peace Design, and Yellowstone Traditions worked together from positioning the home site through final landscaping to make sure every detail of this home was both functional and beautiful.
Materials used to create an authentic historic appearance include reclaimed hard wood hand hewn, cedar shingle roofing, flared base log columns, reclaimed plank siding. Montana moss rock field stone was utilized for the masonry veneer, with a “sawtooth” detail at the top of each fireplace.
MID-WEST RANCH
A main house, two guesthouses, garage, arena, and stables comprise this 175,000-acre mid-west ranch. Hand-hewn timbers, aged wood, dry stack masonry stone arches, rusted metal, and antique stone pavers all reflect an authentic western spirit, while a Chinese multi-colored slate roof lends refreshing eclecticism to the property.
