Double Angel Hunting Club was established in 1996 by Greg Bennett as a gathering place for family and friends to share time outdoors. The name carries a personal story—when Greg was hospitalized with a serious heart condition, he was transferred from Magnolia Regional Medical Center to Little Rock. During that time, his nieces gave him two handmade angels, and he also received paperwork finalizing the purchase of the club’s first hunting property. Those two moments together inspired the name Double Angel. Soon after, several close friends joined Greg, bringing along their teenage sons to enjoy hunting and camaraderie. Many of these families have remained active members for nearly three decades.
The club first operated out of a lodge near Highway 82 between Lewisville and Garland City, Arkansas, but as membership grew, a new home was needed. In 2006, the Double Angel Lodge was built on the shores of Mays Lake, where it still stands today. Designed for comfort and community, the lodge offers 10 bedrooms with private baths, expansive living areas, a commercial and chef’s kitchen, and a sweeping view of both Mays Lake and one of the premier flooded timber blocks in Southwest Arkansas. From the porch, evening flights of mallards can be seen settling into the timber, and in late season, the lake becomes a daily refuge for thousands of ducks.
A separate structure, known as “the shop,” provides a welcoming space for meals and gatherings, with a heated open area for gearing up on cold mornings. It includes a fire pit that doubles as a grill and is equipped, like the main lodge, with Starlink Internet, multiple TVs, and a Klipsch sound system. A third building houses a large heated shop and equipment shed, ensuring convenience and efficiency for every hunt.
The property itself is equally impressive. Between Mays Lake and Bennett Lake lie 51± acres of surface water, stocked with trophy bass and other fish. The flooded timber features two established duck blinds that have produced consistent success—opening weekend of 2024 saw 10 hunters reach their limits in just 30 minutes on both days. Fields adjacent to the timber serve as feeding and resting areas, helping to hold birds throughout the season. Beyond waterfowl, the hardwood stands provide excellent habitat for whitetail deer and hogs. The Double Angel grounds offer a world-class hunting environment with nearby roost ponds, river access, and surrounding agricultural ground.
Adding to its diversity, the property also includes 436± acres of zero-grade tillable farmland, historically planted in soybeans, corn, and rice. This combination of productive cropland, prime timber, lakes, and well-designed facilities makes Double Angel Hunting Club a rare and enduring sporting property.
