RJ is an Idaho and Montana ranch sales agent for Fay Ranches. A fourth-generation Montanan born and raised in Whitefish, RJ attended the University of Montana on a rodeo scholarship, and received a degree in Business Management. After graduating, he began selling real estate with a focus on land; he also worked for a number of years as a hunting guide.
Seven years into his successful real estate career, RJ had an opportunity to apply his business skills to his family’s business in the tool industry. After helping to expand the business for several years, the family sold the business to a new ownership group, which decided to split the business into two separate companies, offering to sell one of the businesses back to RJ and his family.
For the last nine years, RJ has been the Chief Operating Officer at Petersen Brands, the manufacturer of the safest sledgehammer in the world—the Slide Sledge®. While the tool business has been great for RJ and his family, his passion for the land and the opportunity to return to real estate and sell land was too attractive to pass up.
Through rodeo, hunting, fishing and ranch work, RJ has had the opportunity to set foot on some of the most beautiful ranches throughout Montana and the Northern Rockies. RJ’s agricultural background—along with his business degree and acumen, years of brokering land deals, and guiding hunters—makes him uniquely qualified to identify the positives and negatives of both the working characteristics and recreational amenities of a ranch, and to convey that knowledge to his clients. He also understands value. RJ and his wife and family live in Lewistown, Montana.
Feel free to give RJ a call if you’d like to visit and learn more about the investment value of land.
