The Magazine of the American Landowner Releases 2015 Land Report 100, Presented by Fay Ranches.

DALLAS (Dec. 2, 2015) — The Land Report has released the 2015 Land Report 100 presented by Fay Ranches. America’s largest landowners own 34 million acres, an area larger than the states of Delaware, Hawaii, Maryland, and West Virginia combined.

“The attraction of land as an asset class continues to appeal to existing landowners as well as a new generation of investors with a long-term outlook,” said Eric O’Keefe, editor of The Land Report. “Our research into the country’s largest landowners confirms this as large landowners increase their holdings and new names are added to the list.”

Major movers include No. 15 Dan and Farris Wilks, founders of Frac Tech, who added more than 150,000 acres to their holdings. The duo currently owns more than half a million acres in Montana and their native Texas. Homebuilder D.R. Horton added 109,000 acres when he acquired the Double V Ranch in New Mexico from Richard Evans. Thanks to this acquisition, Horton jumped from No. 32 on the 2014 list to No. 23 in 2015.

Also, in this issue, New Mexico’s largest landowner, Ted Turner, unveiled a new ecotourism opportunity on his million-plus acres in the Land of Enchantment. Ted Turner Expeditions takes advantage of the great scale of the lands the Turners own to create a luxury hospitality experience at the Vermejo Park Lodge, Turner’s personal residence on the Ladder Ranch, or Turner’s Sierra Grande Lodge & Spa in Truth or Consequences.

“We congratulate our friends at The Land Report for another great edition showcasing the top 100 landowners in the United States,” said Broker Greg Fay, founder of Fay Ranches, which is a longtime supporter of the publication. “Fay Ranches’ sponsorship for the fifth year in a row represents our continued support to landowners across the nation dedicated to perpetuating America’s agricultural heritage through thoughtful investment and land stewardship.”
