Long Standing Sponsor of Henry’s Fork Foundation Days

Members of the Fay Ranches team recently returned from the Henry’s Fork Foundation-sponsored Henry’s Fork Days, held in the middle of June in Last Chance, Idaho.

While these annual events coincide with the opening weekend of fly fishing on the fabled Harriman Ranch (Railroad Ranch) water, the real focus of the event is on raising funds to continue the foundation’s mission to protect the world-class fishery and watershed of Henry’s Fork of the Snake River.

This year’s fabulous auctions and dinners produced great results once again. Each year, money raised for the Henry’s Fork Foundation directly supports the use of science and technology to inform collaborative water management across southern Idaho, improve Henry’s Fork wild trout fisheries and make the watershed more resilient. As a result of these efforts, the area has seen more sustained winter flows during crucial spawning and rearing times of wild trout and stronger classes of small to medium-sized fish.

I’ve been fishing these waters since my early 20s and realize the delicacy of maintaining such a world-class fishery. I’m passionate about seeing this area flourish and keeping it protected, which is why I also serve as a director of the Henry’s Fork Foundation Board.

Henry's Fork Days in Last Chance, Idaho

Conservation is one of our four pillars on which Fay Ranches was built, and we are very proud to be involved in supporting this unique conservation group as an event sponsor.

In addition to fundraising, we also had the opportunity to enjoy excellent fishing at Henry’s Fork Days. Mid-June brings the excitement of challenging sight fishing with dry flies and large rainbows in the revered Railroad Ranch stretch of the Upper River. It also provides excellent hatches of green drakes, Flavs, PMDs, caddis, and stoneflies below the Ashton Reservoir where many large browns and rainbows get caught for the first time since last season.

It was truly another memorable week of fishing and catching up with old friends on the world-class river of the Henry’s Fork. See you there next summer!
