Legendary Lucas Ranch Sale

By Vinny Delgado, Ranch Sales, Licensed in MT.

It was an absolute pleasure working with all parties involved in this sale. After 133 years in the same family, it will be an honor to watch the new owners write the next chapter for this incredible legacy ranch.” – Vinny Delgado, buyer agent.

In the foothills of Montana’s Crazy Mountains with views of five mountain ranges, the 8,134± acre Lucas Ranch has sold. This fourth-generation ranch was listed for sale for $20,000,000, and Fay Ranches’ Vinny Delgado represented the Buyer.

John Lucas was originally a “bull whacker,” hauling freight across the state of Montana before finding this land next to Sixteen Mile Creek, where he settled and began ranching.

Expansive pasture, extensive water resources, and hay production support a 500-pair cow-calf operation. Cattle remain inside ranch boundaries year-round, rotating through the highlands before returning home to the valley floor for calving in the winter months. Two pivots irrigate 175± acres. The ranch also supports a wide variety of wildlife. Enjoy world-class elk hunting, with elk herds numbering in the hundreds most of the year. The property is only about an hour to Livingston and a little over an hour to Bozeman and its international airport. Basic amenities are only a half hour away in White Sulphur Springs. The expansive acreage, production capability, and exceptional recreation opportunities, including world-class hunting, make this one of those rare properties that have it all.
