Fishing the Ruby River

By Greg Fay, Broker/Owner, Licensed in MT

The Ruby River Ranch is located on a stretch of water that I’ve known intimately for the past 22 years.  When I began fishing it, it was a good fishery.  In the past 20 years, it has become a great fishery.  Upstream of the ranch are two spring creeks that were rehabilitated 15 years ago; one of the spring creeks contributes 20 to 30 CFS of cool spring water with tremendous water chemistry.

The result is bigger fish, as well as cool water temperatures right through the hottest stretches of summer weather.  This stretch of the Ruby does not go into summer doldrums; the big browns eat hoppers consistently through August.  This is truly special water.  Combined with one of the most beautiful ranch compounds in Montana and the new list price, the Ruby River Ranch is now one of the best values on the ranch market today.
