Big Hole Sporting Reserve is located just 7± miles southwest of the small town of Twin Bridges, one of the most classic trout towns in Montana. The Ruby, Beaverhead and Big Hole River confluence in “Twin” to form the Jefferson River, providing more trophy trout and more rivers to fish within a short drive than any town in the lower 48. Prairie meadow, native rangeland, large deciduous trees and lush river bottom form the 74± acres. Over one-third of a mile of the Big Hole River traverses the northern boundary of the ranch with an additional quarter-mile of the spring-influenced Big Hole Ditch (also known as the Owsley Slough) running alongside the residence providing 2 excellent fishable options. The property is accessed via paved Montana Highway 41 and then 2± miles of graveled County Road known as Pennington Road. Pennington Road, which crosses over the river, provides a boat launch not far from the property and continues beyond the property to Glen, near Interstate 15. A beautifully placed private home is situated next to the pond and along the Big Hole Ditch and a large barn with guest quarters above the barn complete this recreational retreat.
Big Hole Sporting Reserve has all the ingredients of a quality recreational ranch. The location of the ranch is also tough to beat, particularly for the fly fisher. Twin Bridges is at the epicenter of trout fishing in Montana and is located within an hour and thirty minutes of two commercial airports. This is the most famous and productive area for wild trout fishing in the lower 48 states.
