The 480± rolling alpine acres of the Dancing Bear Ranch are strategically located between Ennis, Montana, and all the year round amenities offered at Big Sky Resort. The ranch is also surrounded by the jagged peaks of the Lee Metcalf Wilderness offering incredible mountain views. The ranch is a private mountain retreat surrounded by some of the most pristine mountain wilderness in the lower 48 states, yet close to great skiing and fly fishing. Throughout the ranch is a network of trails perfect for hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, 4-wheeler riding, and snow machining.
Ennis and the Madison River are just a 13-mile drive “down” the Jack Creek Road. There you’ll find one of the most attractive small western towns with a wonderful main street and plenty of great folks, festivals, and fireworks. An approximate 13 mile drive “up” the Jack Creek valley on the private Jack Creek Road is the Six Shooter lift at Big Sky Ski and Summer Resort, one of the largest skiing and mountain biking resorts in North America.
The Dancing Bear Ranch comes with several coveted road passes to Jack Creek Road, which is a private road connecting Ennis with Big Sky. The road is controlled by security gates and use of the road is limited. In addition to the road pass that benefits the owner of Dancing Bear Ranch, the ranch also comes with a commercial road pass. Under the existing conservation easement, a lodge accommodating 40 guests is allowed on the ranch and the commercial road pass is for the lodge. The lodge has never been constructed.
The ranch offers world class recreation every month of the year. In the winter the trails on the ranch are perfect for Nordic skiing or snowmobiling. A short drive away is the ‘Biggest Skiing in America’ at Big Sky. In the summer, the ranch and surrounding area provide incredible hiking and mountain biking, and just down the Jack Creek Road is one of the most famous trout fishing rivers in the world, the legendary Madison River. There is also a mile of Jack Creek on the ranch, offering fun mountain angling for smaller trout. The fall brings world class trophy elk and deer hunting right on the ranch and in the nearby wilderness.
The custom home on the ranch is an executive retreat constructed in the Montana tradition of recycled square timbers and high-end finishes. This is one of the most stunningly gorgeous and well-located ranches we’ve had the privilege of offering for sale.
