The River Island Ranch is located just outside of the quaint town of Silver Star, Montana. The Jefferson River borders the ranch on the west for just over a mile. The Jefferson River is one of the many world-famous trout streams in Southwest Montana and is formed by the confluence of the Ruby, Beaverhead and Big Hole Rivers just north of Twin Bridges. The Jefferson meets the Madison and Gallatin Rivers downstream near Three Forks where it becomes the mighty Missouri River. The River Island Ranch is at the hub of the wheel of trout fishing in Montana and the United States with tremendous angling for large trout on the ranch as well as more trophy trout options in nearby rivers than anywhere else in the Lower 48 states. The ranch has been closed to hunting for the last 11 seasons therefore the big bucks have used the property as a refuge during hunting season. There is a strong population of whitetail deer, turkeys, pheasants and waterfowl on the ranch making it a recreational dream for the enthused angler and hunter.
