Fay Ranches Celebrates 25 Years
In April of 1992, exactly 25 years ago, I founded Fay Fly Fishing Properties at age 30. Now a spry 55, I don’t feel any older, but am definitely a bit wiser. Selling land to fly anglers was a novel idea at the time; I had no idea if it would work, but it sure sounded fun, and it truly has been. My first office was in a two-bedroom apartment in the basement of my brother’s house in Bozeman, MT. I certainly had high hopes, but never expected that from those humble beginnings it would grow to become Fay Ranches, a national company with expertise in numerous types of land, from timber to sporting properties.
I can’t imagine a better way to make a living for myself. There has been a lot of hard work, resilience and perseverance, some good decisions, a few bad, and many great people along the way. No two problems or solutions are the same, and we learned and grew from the challenges and opportunities faced. I am sure there are many entrepreneurs reading this who can relate.
I feel very fortunate and honored to be surrounded by so many wonderful individuals who have helped and supported me through this process: my family, my clients and friends (many who are both), Fay Ranches agents and staff. I love my job and am more proud of this company today than I have ever been, which is a wonderful feeling. We are running like a well-oiled machine; everyone is pulling their oar in rhythm, and it shows in our success. Thanks to everyone who has played a part in building this company and legacy, and cheers to the next 25 years!
