Autumn Fly Fishing In Colorado

Each September, Colorado ranch broker Coble Thurman, of Fay Ranches, coordinates an annual fly fishing weekend outing with a group of members & guests from his ski club in Grand County. This year the group of 30 fly fishermen enjoyed fishing six miles of private waters along the Colorado & Fraser Rivers.

Coble invited Trout Unlimited's Grand County Chapter President, Kirk Klancke to join the group's Friday dinner as guest speaker to discuss his continued devotion & passionate involvement in conserving & protecting these precious waters. Orvis guides and representatives were also invited to speak about new products, gear and provide some beginners with first class instructions.  Saturday's outing was memorable as the weather included everything from pounding rainstorms, hail, snow & sunny skies making the fly selection more challenging with each passing hour.  Discussions back at the lodge varied from the numerous rainbows & browns that were landed & lost to the crazy fall weather & scenery enjoyed in Colorado.

Fay Ranches generously provided fly boxes to each participant ranging in age from 10 to 80 years old to keep as a memento.  A great autumn weekend that included terrific chef prepared meals, family traditions & good camaraderie was enjoyed by all whom are already looking forward to next years event.
