A $25 dollar raffle ticket won someone a memorable ride on an open road with Fay Ranches sales associate Johnny Unser last weekend at the annual Sun Valley Road Rally.
“Last year I went about 180 mph. I’m not sure which car I am driving this year, but I will give it all it has!” promised Johnny. Unser was also offering garage access and pit passes to an Indy auto race of their choice to the raffle winner.
The weekend of Road Rally events raises funds and visibility for the Blaine County Community Drug Coalition that supports Idaho Drug Free Youth programs for middle and high school students.
Activities for Johnny began on Friday with his technical inspections at the Sun Valley Auto Club of all the participating vehicles, such as Porsches, Ferraris, GTs, Jaguars, Cobras, Lamborghinis, Maseratis, and Lotuses. The vehicles also participated in a cruise through town on Friday evening.
On Saturday, a section of Hwy 75 north of Sun Valley was closed to traffic as the drivers took their vehicles through the “no speed limit” course below the Boulder Mountains as fast as they wished. Local law enforcement was out there to clock speeds to see if someone would break the 198 mph record from last year. No speeding tickets were issued! Spectators were shuttled from town to viewing sections along the course.
